Taruna Nusantara – Leadership

So, this post is about recollecting puzzles of the past, ascending high school memories into writing which can be read (and soon to be rewritten) by the next Taruna Nusantara brother and sisters. It’s a story; well, a description of 2008-2009 OSIS – PK board of leadership.

I know it’s subjective, but trust me, SMA Taruna Nusantara’s school organization is way different and distinguishable to other school organizations. Here, we are talking about applying leadership traits as a priority to managerial skills. The word ‘residing’ seems to be cynical, but in fact, it can be agreed that it was true, at least on our period of OSIS – PK handling. Explainable though, since events were directly controlled by temporary committees, positioning OSIS – PK as a board of responsibility and supervision. We sometimes gave technical orders, step-by-step process, details but we presumably acted as advisors.

A leader is a manager, with extra positive credits.

A manager is not a leader, unless he or she mastered and have ever applied leadership theories.

I guarantee you, Taruna Nusantara offer you the first explanation : Lead; Manage, with extra positive credits.

Taruna Nusantara is a full Boarding School, which means we lived with schoolmates 24 hours. Studied, played, slept together. A leader (in every level) main task is to take decisions, and every time you pull a red string of decision making, it always lure pros and cons. Normal, it is. But since it’s a boarding school, you can’t escape after decision making, since the whole society live with you. Every day, every seconds.

It’s politics. Name it, politics.

You got loyal supporters, on the other hand, unhappy people stalked you, whispered negativeness behind your backbone.

You’ve done unprecedented meetings. Until dawn passed by.

You were being awaken during midnights due to need-to-be-solved as soon as possible conundrums.

You are managed to control emotions; partners became a role-player in balancing situations.

You were being challenged by illogical yet powerful threats.

You became under-pressured. Until one day I made this post, due to emotional limit.

But everything was under control. Lessons learned, experienced gained. Despite of every dynamism happened there, togetherness remains eternal.
